The meeting was called to order by Richard Stewart at 7:00pm at the Hilton Lake Firehouse. Note: The call to order was retroactive since it was overlooked until late in the meeting.
Current Business:
Board elections: The Board Secretary, Richard Stewart, explained the Board’s rational that the board elections had indeed decayed over a number of years and were not held in accordance with the by-laws. There appeared to be a general consensus regarding past elections and that no harm was inflicted due to a creeping lapse of incorrect election procedures in past years.
Richard Stewart continued with the Board’s position that any proposed recourse should only apply to the 2006 elections since the by-laws provided no clear remedy. Richard went on to explain that the Board preferred to clear the issue through vote by mail ballots sent out in late May.
At this point, homeowners were give time to present their opinions and ask questions of the Board. The following is an attempt to provide a general synopsis of the discussion.
There appeared to be a general consensus that the discussion of Board elections should be limited to 2006.
The majority of the homeowners (based on a rough estimate of comments from those homeowners present) in attendance communicated a contrary position wanting to erase the previously held 2006 Board member election and the vote by mail election proposed by the Board. Furthermore, the majority of the homeowners present advocated using the election results from a homeowners meeting on June 6, 2006 as the basis for installing new members.
After an extended period of comments, questions, and debate, John Nist motioned that the Board accept the June 6, 2006 ballots which were provided by Theresa Tuengel. The present Board members voted unanimously to accept the recommendation that the June 6 homeowner ballots be accepted as the official 2006 election tally.
Adopting the previously described ballots resulted in the following changes to the Board:
· Removal of Bernie Kania and Costica Gheorghiu
· Installing Kent Brady and Scott Cecile as members elected for 2006 term
· Reaffirming election Jeff Lange as a member elected for 2006 term
2007 Board Elections: Furthermore, the Board will focus on organizing the 2007 nominating committee during the next few monthly Board meetings. Volunteer homeowners will be recruited to staff the nominating committee. Volunteers for the 2007 nominating committee: Theresa Tuengel and Michael Jordan.
Meeting Addendum
Suggestions from Homeowners:
Special Board Meeting: Rob marks suggested that the Board hold a special meeting in June to welcome the new members, reaffirm or reelect the Board Officers, and take care of outstanding business. This suggestion was well received by the Board and the special meeting was scheduled for June 20.
Annual Meeting Notice: Suggestion was put forward to add the annual meeting notice in the annual dues letter. Good suggestion which will be implemented.
Board Roster: Post Board roster and term information on HLHA Web site. This will be done within the next few weeks.
New Business:
Summer Party: The board discussed the budgeting for the summer party. The board members present voted unanimously to authorize and amount not to exceed $500.00. The date will set in the next meeting.
