The meeting was called to order by John Nist on Tuesday, 7:30pm at the Hilton Lake firehouse. Written agenda is not available.
[MSP] Meeting minutes of October 2005 approved, as is (No quorum for Nov; No meeting for Dec).
Dan Anderson (425) 232-6903 was present at the request of a homeowner, to introduce a product he sells, called “Ponder” (AKA lignite). He described that his product could benefit our lakes. He suggested 20-40-50% reduction in weeds and 50% of the built-up plant matter on the bottom will be gone the first year. There are three types of products for weed control/algae control/rehabilitation for lakes: 1. Algaecide/Herbicide 2. Enzymes 3. Mineral (100% natural). He described his product as mineral. He named many golf courses as references: Bear Creek Golf & CC, Loomis Trail, Semiahoo-Blaine, WA; Overlake GCC, Medina, WA; N. Bellingham Golf, Meridian, WA; Legion Memorial Golf. The unsolicited (HLHA Board did not request this quote) quote is for $4,600/year. Typically 4 treatments--- Jan/Apr/Jul/Oct.
Other sources and products were discussed. “Healthy Ponds” is currently used as a treatment for the lakes. This is an enzyme product. Mosquito treatment is included in the current treatments. Aquatechnics/RMI has approached the Board and done treatments in the past. Frances will get more info from them.
Neighborhood Watch (NW): Pam Verfaillie gave us an update. The signs that were ordered came in on Thursday. Since the initial Dec. 1 meeting, 51 people have signed up between Hilton Lake and the neighborhood to the south. 110th St. is the southern boundary of the NW. January 19, 7 PM to 8:30 PM will be the next NW meeting at the Hilton Lake firehouse. Representatives, including Susan York, from LeadOnAmerica will be there to talk to us.
Rob Marks offered his resignation as Board member and Treasurer, due to business and family commitments. The entire Board is sad to see Rob go off of the Board. It is noted that Rob has tirelessly served the Board for 10+ years. ALL of Hilton Lake has benefited from his tremendous contributions of time and effort. As of the fourth week of January, 2006, Mike Shorb has been voted on as a Board member and assumes the post of Treasurer.
Discussion of new business was tabled in order to facilitate a letter stuffing session to get the dues bills out. [Note- dues bills were mailed directly after the meeting, same night]
